It would be possible to write many pages about this beautiful town which is built on the rock of Theseus. 80% of all the inhabitants of Skyros live here and it is the financial and commercial centre of the island. All public services are located here: The post office, telephone company, police, tourism and rent-a-car office and the island's only bank (National Bank of Greece) which has an ATM.
There is lots of sightseeing to be done here and you need at least two days to visit all of the attractions.
There are two very interesting museums The archeological museum and The folkore museum of M. Faltaits.
At the top of the hill are the Venetian Castle and the Byzantine Monastery (both temporary closed because of the earthquake of 2001).
